![]() ![]() Then, as I rebuilt my eco, our opponents crushed my ally. My ally did send his Sepoys after the horses, but they just scared them away. I was able to destroy the Sioux TC with a rush, while the Sioux sent his horses to demolish my eco. He agreed early on when I suggested a rush, yet his first batch of sepoys came out at 8:00-9:00. He got his barracks up at the 7:00 mark - in the back of his town. ![]() I assumed, "Oh! He is lvl 16! He should be even better than my previous ally!". In the second game, I played as Spanish with an Indian lvl 16 ally, against a lvl 14 & lvl 19 Chinese Sioux combo. This sergeant was "with it", and knew how to play the game. Because of this good communication we were able to rush the Otto's before they could rush us, and we won the game. He also was very knowledgeable of strategy, and we were able to talk in depth throughout the game of what we were doing, who should do what, etc. We had time before the game started, so my ally and I were able to talk much of our strategy. In the first I (Spanish 14) played with an ally who was a level 15 (Japanese), against a lvl 15 & lvl 18 Otto. The actual skill levels and knowledge levels of the players that have the rank of sergeant are extremely varied. It seems to me that the rank of sergeant is in the middle of no-mans-land on the ESO rank chart. They know what the players should be doing, but by golly, if they were playing those positions, they couldn't do squat because their bodies don't respond as quick. A comparison would be of the average NFL football coach. In other words - I know what I should do, but have trouble actually doing it. I have a very good knowledge of the ins and outs of the game, but I have trouble putting them into play. 05 SP from lvl 15, and have played around 45-50 games total. I am currently ranked as a lvl 14 sergeant, only. So, I have played many more 2 vs 2 that one vs one. After playing so long over LAN, I am used to & love the 2 vs 2 player dynamic - one vs one, even though it is the accepted/preferred format for determining skill - I dislike. After about 2-3 months, I have only accrued a little over 2 million XP, which seems like a very small amount, as I see many with over 20 million, and some even at 60. I started playing AoE3 online in late May, finally (ESO - Foyle), but have not played a lot. In May, our household finally had access to affordable High Speed Internet (I'm from rural Maine). This gaming progressed through Aoe II, Aom, and now AoE III. At the time, we had two computers, so I was able to play AoE with my family members over LAN. Before I get into some gripes that I have, plus observations that I have made, and some problems that I have had myself, let me give a very brief history of my gaming experience: I started playing Age of Empires when I was very young - the original game came with a new PC that our family got. ![]()
